ICOR sends congratulations Dr. John Harper (member of ICOR), and Dr. Brad Buckham (member of the ICOR Program Committee) for their recent prestigious awards and recognition. ICOR congratulates Dr. John Harper, President, of Coastal and Oceans Resources Inc., (CORI) (also a member of ICOR) on the recently awarded Coastal American Spirit Award as part of the Alaska ShoreZone partnership. The Alaska ShoreZone program is a coastal habitat mapping program supported by over 20 federal, state and county agencies in addition to non-governmental agencies. CORI has been the primary contractor for the program. To date, over 40,000 km of coastline have been imaged as part of the program. As CORI approaches the end of 2009, they have developed close to a 100,000 km contiguous mapping from Columbia River to the Bering Sea - a continental scale dataset. Dr. Brad Buckham awarded the first Entrepreneurship Fellow Award granted by the British Columbia Innovation Council. Dr. Buckham shares the award with tech entrepreneur and academic Gerri Sinclair for their innovative West Coast Wave collaboration program which is studying wave energy potential off the west coast of Vancouver Island. He is also the co-inventor of the SyncWave Power Resonator that harnesses wave energy for sustainable power generation. |
